The Sisterhood
Dianne Yarborough is the founder of Sisterhood 4 Vets, Inc. She is a retired federal government worker. She received the Meritorious Civilian Service Award in December 2014. She received an associate degree from Pierce Junior College and received a Bachelor Degree of Science from Eastern University. She has served in leadership positions at religious organizations. She has also been a leader for the Girl Scouts, Project Give and a Girls Youth program that was sponsored by the City of Philadelphia. She also served as a volunteer for Alpha Pregnancy Service and the Federal Employee Women Program. Dianne is a military spouse and resides in Philadelphia, PA.
O. Charlene Goodwin is retired from banking and is currently employed, part time, with the Philadelphia Public School system. She enjoys volunteering and currently volunteers for a religious organization. She is a proud mother of two sons and grandmother of six girls. Charlene is one of the original members of S4V Board of Directors and resides in Philadelphia, PA.
Sylvia M. Cummings hails from New York and is married with one son. She is a federal government employee. She volunteers for church and community as a Sunday school teacher and block captain, respectively. Sylvia has also organized and participates in book and investment clubs. Sylvia lives in Philadelphia, PA.
Harriet Wright is one of the original members of S4V Board of Directors. Harriet has been a volunteer for the African American Museum, MLK Anniversary, WHYY Phonation, and Chaplain of the Mercy Douglas Hospital. She has also been a bible study teacher at the federal prison. Harriet is currently the Coordinator of the Prison Ministry, a volunteer of the SCI Muncy Spiritual Advisory Ministry member of the New Member Ministry, Love Fellowship Outreach Ministry and a Missionary at the Beulah Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA. She resides in New Jersey.
Joan Slaughter is a retired federal government worker. She earned a degree in “Searching and Acquisitions” from St. Joseph’s University. Joan is one of the original members of S4V Board of Directors. She resides in Philadelphia, PA.
Alice Davis is a Retired Educator, 32 years with the School District of Philadelphia. Alice received a B.S. Elem. Ed from Temple University and M.S. Ed. from the Philadelphia University. She has been a Coordinator for the after school tutoring program with Foundations, Inc. She recently trained with the IRS as a volunteer for the income tax assistance program. She is the mother of two, a son and a daughter and the grandmother of 3, two boys and one girl. Her leisure activities include regular church attendance, exercising, shopping, spending time with her grandchildren, private tutoring for elementary students, and visiting with family and friends out of state. She resides in West Norriton, PA.
